Hire Performance leads to higher education.
Dexion Integrated Systems secured the contract for installing the new library racking system for the University of Macquarie and with the ”sensational service” of Preston they achieved both access and capacity.
Using the latest technology from the United States the librarians select the book they need on a computer and one of four automated cranes locates the appropriate bin from the racks and brings it to the front desk – truly amazing.
The tolerances of this system provided Dexion’s biggest challenge and Preston’s Superminicrawlers supplied the solutions required.
The installation of the racking system was a delicate operation and required finesse in dealing with the high tolerance system.
Given the tight constraints of the site and the sectional nature of the racks, the use of three different sizes of Superminicrawler cranes allowed Dexion to achieve both access in between the racks and the capacity to maintain the schedule.
The project contained deadlines that, if missed, would incur liquidated damages and so the performance of Preston was paramount to the success of the project. “Due to the difficult site conditions, we used three different sized Preston Superminicrawler cranes at various stages throughout the installation” says Dexion’s site manager Peter Cubis.
Of Preston’s performance he says, “Each machine was delivered on time, in good working order and with all the appropriate paperwork. They all performed extremely well in very difficult circumstances and were well supported by the Preston Group team – my expectations were exceeded on all levels”.
The Dexion project achieved its goals of accuracy and timely completion and the involvement of Preston assured “Hire Performance”.
See you on site. Preston Group, Your Project Partner.
